Welcome to the website of the research group “East Asian Uses of the European Past”!
Located in Heidelberg, Madrid, London and Zurich, we are a group of researchers who are interested in global co-productions of historical knowledge. Zooming in on interactions in and between Europe and East Asia since 1600, we explore changing perceptions and conceptualizations of time and temporality.
On this site, you will find Dialogues and Think Pieces as well as information on our team and affiliated partners, news and events related to our interests, and links to further resources and publications.
The Collaborative Research Project “East Asian Uses of the Past: Tracing Braided Chronotypes” (EAU-TBC) has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 649307 and is part of HERA (Humanities in the European Research Area) Joint Research Program 3 “Uses of the Past”.
